Chusnul Mar’iyah
Chusnul Mar’iyah completed her doctoral degree at the University of Sydney, Australia. Chusnul is known as an activist since her days as a student of Political Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia. Chusnul later became a lecturer at her alma mater where she still teaches today.
In addition to teaching, Chusnul Mar’iyah is a researcher and co-founder of the Coalition of Indonesian Women for Justice and Democracy as well as a founder of the Women for Peace and Gender Justice, which initiated the Acehnese Women’s Congress (Duek Pakat Inong Aceh). She was also involved in the Movement for the Empowerment of Women’s Voice and Transparency International Indonesia.
Chusnul Mar’iyah was additionally appointed as a member of the National Election Commission for the period of 2002-2007.
